We regularly receive questions about dry skin care. So, we have decided to answer the most commonly asked questions about this subject.
1) What are the ingredients I should look for in a good dry skin cream?
- Skin-identical and restoring ingredients: These particular ingredients are already present in the cells and the skin and allow the cells to be connected, like mortar and brick. Hyaluronic acid, sodium hyaluronate and ceramides are parts of this group.
- Emollients : These are lubricating ingredients that prevent water loss and have a soothing and protection effect on the skin. You can find these ingredients in unscented plant oils, fatty acids (linoleic acid), glycerine and triglycerides.
- Anti-inflammatory ingredients :These components reduce signs of skin inflammation, like swelling, sensitivity, pain, redness and irritation. Ingredients like Vitamin E will have this effect on skin.
2) Do I have to use a different care of each part of my body (face, legs, hands, feet, etc.)?
The answer is yes. Skin composition is the same everywhere, but the facial skin is more delicate that the one on your hands and feet for example. To moisturize your face, look for a cream or lotion that has a smoother consistency, and that will protect it against UV rays. If you have dry skin on your legs or feet, pick a butter or a thicker, richer cream that will deeply moisturizes your skin.
3 ) What is the best care product for my face’s dry skin?
As it was mentioned earlier, your facial skin is more delicate and is constantly exposed to outside “aggressions” (sun, cold, wind, dust, etc.) The best care is the one that will not only protect your skin against sun and cold, but one that will retain the water, thus your skin moisturizing.
